What is AFUE?
AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency) is a standard of measurement for the thermal efficiency of combustion equipment, such as furnaces, that power your home’s heating system. Efficiency is measured for every 100 BTU (British Thermal Unit). For example, a 90% AFUE furnace outputs 90 BTU for every 100 BTU while the rest of the heat is lost through exhaust or other means. Essentially, the higher the AFUE rating, the more heat efficiency and cost-savings you get from your home’s heating system.
